United MileagePlus Credit Card Login: How to Access Your Account and What to Do When You Can't

If you carry a United MileagePlus credit card — whether it's issued through Chase — logging into your account is how you track spending, pay your bill, monitor your MileagePlus miles, and manage everything from autopay to travel notifications. The login process is straightforward, but there are enough moving pieces that questions come up regularly. Here's what you need to know.

Where You Actually Log In

United MileagePlus credit cards are issued by Chase Bank, which means your credit card account lives at Chase.com — not on United's website. This is a common source of confusion. United's site manages your MileagePlus frequent flyer account (miles balance, flight bookings, award redemptions), but your credit card account — statements, payments, credit limit, transactions — is managed entirely through Chase.

Two separate accounts, two separate logins:

Account TypeWhere You Log InWhat You'll Find There
MileagePlus frequent flyerunited.comMiles balance, flight bookings, award travel
United credit card (credit account)chase.comStatements, payments, transactions, credit limit

Your miles earned on the credit card will appear in your MileagePlus account, but the card itself is managed at Chase.

How to Log Into Your United MileagePlus Credit Card Account

  1. Go to chase.com and click "Sign In" at the top right.
  2. Enter your Chase username and password. If you have other Chase accounts (checking, savings, other cards), this is the same login.
  3. Once inside, navigate to your United card from the account list on your dashboard.

If you don't have a Chase online account yet, you'll need to enroll rather than just log in. Enrollment requires your card number, the last four digits of your Social Security number, and your billing zip code. This is a one-time setup.

Logging In on Mobile

Chase's mobile app (available on iOS and Android) gives you full account access and is often the faster option. Once you've enrolled online, your same username and password work in the app. Chase also supports biometric login — Face ID and fingerprint — which most users find more convenient than typing credentials each time.

Common Login Problems and How to Fix Them 🔐

Forgot your username or password? Chase has a straightforward recovery flow. On the login page, click "Forgot username/password" and verify your identity using your card number, SSN, and zip code. You'll then reset via email or text.

Account locked? Too many failed login attempts will lock your account temporarily. Chase will prompt you to verify your identity to unlock it — usually via a one-time code sent to your phone or email on file.

Two-factor authentication issues? Chase uses two-factor authentication (2FA) as a security layer. If you're not receiving the verification code, check that your contact information on file is current. If you've changed your phone number, you may need to contact Chase directly to update it before you can log in again.

Seeing the wrong account after login? If you have multiple Chase accounts, your United card may not be the first one displayed. Scroll through your account list — it should appear labeled with the card name.

What You Can Do Once You're Logged In

Once inside your Chase account, you have full control over your credit card:

  • View transactions in real time
  • Make payments — one-time or set up autopay
  • Check your available credit and current balance
  • Download statements going back several years
  • Dispute a charge
  • Set up travel notifications so your card isn't flagged when you use it abroad
  • Freeze your card if it's lost or stolen
  • Request a credit limit increase
  • Redeem or track Ultimate Rewards points (if applicable to your card version)

Your MileagePlus miles won't show up in the Chase portal — those post to your United frequent flyer account. But you can monitor when miles are being earned based on your transaction history.

Keeping Your Login Secure ✈️

Because travel rewards accounts are a high-value target for fraud, a few habits matter:

  • Use a unique password for Chase that you don't reuse elsewhere
  • Enable biometric login on mobile rather than relying solely on a password
  • Review transactions regularly — catching unauthorized charges early limits your liability
  • Keep your contact info current so 2FA codes reach you reliably
  • Log out when using shared or public devices

Chase's fraud monitoring is active in the background, but account security ultimately depends on how carefully you protect your own credentials.

If Your Miles Aren't Showing Up in Your United Account

This is a separate issue from the login process, but it comes up frequently. Miles earned on your credit card are typically posted to your MileagePlus account within one to two billing cycles after a qualifying purchase. If miles are missing after that window, the issue is usually resolved by contacting Chase — not United — since the credit card relationship is with Chase.

The Variable Nobody Can Answer for You

Most login questions have clean answers. But if you're trying to figure out whether your account access issues reflect something deeper — like a past-due balance affecting your account status, a credit limit that no longer fits your needs, or whether a product change makes sense — those answers depend entirely on what's in your credit profile and account history.

Two cardholders with the same card can be in very different places: one with a healthy utilization ratio and years of on-time payments, another carrying a balance that's affecting both their credit score and their card terms. 🔎

The login mechanics are universal. What you find when you get inside — and what your options are from there — depends on numbers that are specific to you.
